Day II of the Buckeye Prep Pre-Season Shootout kicked off on Saturday and featured another day of incredible basketball and standout performances. In terms of team play, in the 5th grade division, Gahanna, Worthington Red, Big Walnut and Norwalk all finished 2-0 and advanced to Gold Bracket play. Olentangy Berlin, Pickerington and Mayfield all finished 1-1 heading into Sunday.

In the 4th grade division, Dublin Green, and Reynoldsburg Elite finished undefeated and received byes into Gold Bracket play. Both Pickerington and Big Walnut finished 1-1 over the last 2 days.

Although there were a number of kids who logged in noteworthy performances, no one played better that Jaden Tonyemba (4’8″/PG/2031/Columbus). Tonyemba was virtually unstoppable in the 2 games we watched. In fact, in his first game of the day, Tonyemba went off for 29 points! He’s quick, shifty, highly skilled, and his ability to change speeds and direction and score the ball at 3 levels is elite. Derrick Perryman (5’5″/WF/2031/Gahanna) had another big day, and his ability to shoot with range has set him apart from his peers.

Big Maddox Gamble (5’6″/PF/C/2031/Norwalk) is a problem. He has good size; he handles the ball well for his size, and he rebounds at a high rate. In addition, He has a soft touch around the rim and he consistently finishes through contact. Jonathon “JJ” Moore (5’4″/CG/2031/Painesville) had a solid day. He’s athletic, has good positional size, and he can go get a bucket when he needs to. Moore projects well going forward. Jordan Davies (4’10″/SG/2031/Olentangy) had a big day on Saturday and proved to be almost unstoppable driving to the basket. Davies is strong and aggressive and always competes at a high level.

We were also really impressed with Archie Decker (4’7″/PG/2033/Dublin), who displayed a mature game for his age. Playing up against 4th graders, Decker demonstrated a solid skill set as well as the ability to score and handle the rock. In terms of overall guard play, day II highlighted some good ones, including, Lucca Pentello (4’11″/SG/2031/Big Walnut), Rhett Bradley (4’7″/PG/2032/Big Walnut), Jordan Taylor (4’9″/PG/2032/Gahanna) and Benny Sellers (4’9″/PG/2031/Norwalk). Below is a complete list of day I standouts.
