For the 3rd consecutive year, the Gahanna Lion’s 5th grade team went undefeated in route to the championship of the Holiday Mall at the Mall Tournament in Columbus. This year, Gahanna’s trek to the title included wins over Dublin Jerome-Ooten (47-14), Olentangy Braves (31-20), Pickerington (27-21), Olentangy Braves (28-20) and Lancaster (52-4).

Although Gahanna benefited from a total team effort, standouts included: Derrick Perryman, Landon Geist, Jordan Taylor and Johan Carter. With this last championship, Gahanna is 3-0 in the last 3 tournaments, and run their overall season record to an impressive 18-1.

In the 4th grade division, Big Walnut defeated the Cincinnati-based Sycamore (37-31) to claim the 4th grade title. Despite an heroic effort by Jett Darbyshire, a Rhett Bradley-led Big Walnut got the job done. For the record, Westerville North-Ring defeated Grove City (34-24) to claim the 3rd grade championship, while Dublin Green downed Marysville-Truitt (53-45) to grab the 6th grade crown.
