While we were covering the Court 4 Sports/T3TV MLK Tournament in Cincinnati last week, Coach Marcel Warren’s 2027 George Hill All Indy squad was running through the competition at the Indiana Amateur MLK Shootout in Indianapolis, IN. George Hill’s virtual cake walk to the crown included blowout wins (4-0) over Indy Premier (67-11), Blo-No Warriors (88-13), Stars (69-27) and Team Bird Elite Purple (41-33). Despite having been inactive for over a month, being unable to practice and run sets, Warren’s team was able to get the job done.
Included in Coach Warren’s starting 5 were three of Ohio’s top guards in Deon Johnson (5’11”/WF/2027/Columbus), Maurice Hamrick Jr. (5’2”/PG/2028/Hilliard) and Amir Clark (4’11”/PG/2027), all of whom hail from Central Ohio and all whom played pivotal roles George Hill’s tournament victory. The third standout for the tournament was Caled Wells (5’10”/WF/2027/Indianapolis, IN). Michael Pierre (5’6”/CG/2027/Chicago, IL) rounded out the roster for George Hill All Indy
According to Coach Warren, the team was led in scoring by Hamrick, who not only averaged over 20 points per game but exploded for a jaw dropping 42 points in one game. Hamrick used hot perimeter shooting, dribble drives and transition buckets to run up his score. In support, Johnson averaged around 16 points per game. Next up for George Hill All Indy is the Coast 2 Coast Presedent’s Day Tournament in Northern Kentucky. Congrats to Coach Warran and his squad for the win.
