CSA-4th Grade Champions

Southern Assault-5th Grade Champions

I know we are way late on publishing the final day report at the Never Walk on the Hardwood event, so at this point, its really just about giving props to CSA and Southern Assault, the 4th and 5th grade champions, respectively. CSA shocked the world at last year’s Balling on the Beach tournament with a undefeated run to the championship, so, it came as no surprise to us that they were poised to make some noise in Kansas City. Moreover, there was some question that CSA had fallen off because of a few roster changes.

Despite having dropped a game to Righteous Elite in super pool play (42-35) at this event, as well as at least 2 other occasions in previous tournaments, CSA also erased an 18 point, 2nd half deficit to notch a (61-57) win against then top rated Buckeye Prep RA1, before taking advantage of their size and athleticism to make a Sunday run that would eventually lead to a title.

CSA’s trek to the championship included other big wins against nationally ranked teams such as: Team Takeover (62-43), BNU (57-55), Hoosier Phenoms (69-61) and Righteous Elite (47-40). With their title run in Kansas City, Coach River’s squad now has a legitimate claim as the top team in the land!

Although Southern Assault was shocked in pool play by Charging Elite (51-56), and would suffer their first loss of the season, Assault would get some get back by defeating Charging in the championship game (71-61). Southern Assault’s path to chip included wins over Team Takeover (61-53), Tulsa Elite (43-24), OTT (61-29) and Blue Print (55-19). Both Charging matchups were played at a high level and featured elite play by multiple players.

We would be remiss if we did not highlight the outstanding play of Christian Bell (6’5”/C/2031/Arlington, TX), who straight dominated play on both ends of the court. Long, athletic with elite scoring ability and rim protection, Bell projects as a high major prospect already!

Congratulations to both teams for bringing home the gold. In closing, if you haven’t participated in the event in the past, you’re sleeping on a great opportunity to compete at the highest level! Get it on your 2025 schedule!
