As most of our readers know, the last couple of weeks we published a couple of stories featuring the Pickerington Ridgeview Tigers and their post season tournament run. However, apparently, there’s a second Pickerington school that has also logged in an impressive season as well. According to Coach Ant Turner, his Pickerington Ridgeview Tigers squad got off to a tough start after suffering a 10-point loss to a well-coached Big Walnut team on opening night. However, after that, the Tigers caught fire and did not lose another game all season, finishing with a 11-1 overall record. Over the course of the season, the Tigers notched several big wins over programs such as Olentangy Liberty, Reynoldsburg Waggoner, Dayton Trotwood and rival Pickerington Lakeview.
Unfortunately for the Tigers, the team’s exposure to COVID-19 prevented them for participating in the same post season tournament that the program won last season. Pickerington was led my studs Isaac Dukes (5’8”/WF/2026/Pickerington) and Xavier McKinney (5’7”/WF/2026/Pickerington). Coach Turner was very complementary of Dukes, who he described as having, “…the best motor of any kid I’ve coached in the 6 years I’ve coached at Ridgeview.” He’s definitely one to watch.” The rest of the starting 5 include: Aaven Snyder (5’0”/PG/2026/Pickerington), Ayden Snyder (5’1”/SG/2026/Pickerington) and Conner Retherford (6’0”/C/2026/Pickerington). When asked why his team was so successful this season Coach Turner offered a couple of theories. “We’re built on defense; we came together as a family; and our kids played for one another,” Turner told the Buckeye Prep Report. You can catch most of the above players in action at our March 13th Buckeye Prep Elite Showcase. Congratulations to Coach Turner and his players for a great season. Finally, follow us @robt1.
