On Saturday, we had the opportunity to spend a couple of hours at the All-Ohio Nike League in Columbus, where we caught several of Central Ohio’s top 4th and 5th graders in action. Basically, we watched Team Charging’s 4th grade travel team play their 5th grade team. We’ve watched these kids for a few years now and it’s clear they are continuing to develop.
We really liked what we saw out of JJ Leoffler (2030), who demonstrated the ability to handle the rock and shoot with range. In fact, he drained multiple treys in the game we watched. Leofffler has good length for his position, he has a good feel for the game, and he can score at 3 levels. Jayce Fisher (2030) is athletic, skilled and can score as well. Lee Debro (2030) and Chase Rabin (2030) can go get a bucket either at the cup or from the perimeter. Landon Miller (2030) is athletic, has good size, and should be a good one going forward.
Rush Anstine (2031), Jaden Tonyemba (2031) and AJ Davenport (2031) are all excellent point guards with excellent ball skills and the ability to get into the paint and finish tough shots. Tonyemba and Davenport are both super quick, crafty, and both are always in attack mode while probing the defense for driving lanes. There’s a reason all of these kids are ranked among the best in the state [and nation for that matter]; they can play this game!
